Land Tax Changes for Unit Trusts in NSW

In 2006 the NSW Government amended the Land Tax Management Act with respect to the taxation of unit trusts, narrowing down the scope for unit trusts to be treated as ‘fixed trusts’ for land tax purposes. There is a window of opportunity for Unit Trusts to amend their Trust Deeds prior to 31 December 2007 and still qualify as 'fixed trusts' restrospectively for the 2006 land tax year.
